Progress Reports TODAY! November 29th

If your child's report is not satisfactory, consider the following items:
*Is your child frequently tardy?
*Does your child complete homework?
*Does your child and you study for tests?
*Does your child know school is important to you, too?
*Does your child bring the necessary supplies to class?
*Do you visit the school for an occasional lunch date or to speak to the teacher?
*Is your child frequently absent from school, but could have probably attended?

The problem may not be his/her ability to learn, but obstacles that can be easily removed.

PTA Reflections Contest

The 2010-2011 theme for the annual PTA Reflections contest is, "Together we can".
"When children express themselves through words, pictures, music, dance, and other art forms they grow intellectually and socially.  They learn to analyze their thoughts, feeligns, and ideas; learn to look at things, people, and experiences in a fresh and exciting way; and become more interested in the ideas and works of others."

Reflection contest entries must be original works created by students and submitted to the local PTA.  Our Middleton Heights PTA will send home fliers with information and submission dates, but you can get information and rules at http://www.ptareflections.org/cs/about_reflections

Reflections Rewards Open House is scheduled for Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 6:30 PM.

Parent Talk

Thank you to the few families that joined me this morning for coffee and cookies.  We spent time reviewing Family Access through our new Skyward program.  I received some great questions and feedback.  I have added links to Family Access and to my new parent blog on the main page of the school web page.  The links are in the right hand column.
I appreciate the conversation, feedback and ideas that are generated during this time.  Hope to see more of you next month!

Welcome

Welcome to our new blog designed as an interactive communication tool between the school (principal) and the families in and around our community.  It is my desire to provide current information and to receive comments and feedback from the community.  Be sure to check out the calendar at the bottom of the blog.  Many items have information attached if you click on the title.

One Wednesday a month I will also host a "Parent Talk".  This time is set aside to share information regarding school programs and to open discussions with parents.  We will not discuss any personnel concerns or items relevant to a particular family.  Those conversations are best done with a 1:1 appointment.
My next Parent Talk is scheduled for Wednesday, October 13, 2010.  We will meet from 9-10 AM in the Heights' library.  Please plan to join me for coffee, juice, and conversation.
